Tips On Starting A Dollhouse Collection

Dollhouse collecting is a great hoby (lifestyle) and one that is very easy to get into.  Before taking that plunge and purchasing your first dollhouse there are a couple tips that might help you along the way.

1.  Buy What You Like

The first tip of dollhouse collecting I give to everyone is buy what you like.  I can't see collecting anything I don't like.  There are broad categories of dollhouses and miniatures that are available, a little something for every taste.

2.  Choose A Theme

Choosing a theme for your first dollhouse is a great way to get your collection started.  A theme helps you determine which style of furniture and miniatures you will be looking for.

3.  Start Small

When you buy your first dollhouse there is no reason to start big.  Chances are your first house will not be your last.  Starting small will give you a chance to learn some techniques that will be useful when you step up to bigger houses.

4.  Create Your Own

One of my favorite parts of dollhouse collecting is creating my own miniatures.  There is nothing better than decorating my houses with miniatures I created myself.  You also have the advantage of creating items that are not available in stores.  If you can't find something just make it yourself.

5.  Have fun!

Finally, have fun.  Collecting dollhouses can be a great hoby for anyone.  Once you create your first dollhouse you will be hooked for life.
